Job Summary


The job holder (2 years contract) is responsible in the management function of the Research and Design team in identification, development, execution and management of implementation of the overall total department work plan (internal/external), in line with the organization mission and vision, within the agreed budget and timeline. The job holder is responsible in the management of resources (human and financial) within the department to ensure the deliverables of its research agenda.




Key Responsibility Areas


Team Leadership Management


  • Provide overall managerial support in managing the Research and Design Team.
  • Manage the manpower resources of the department to ensure efficient operations of the team.
  • Identify, develop, execute and manage implementation of the overall department work plan in line with the organisational work plan, within the agreed budget and timeline.
  • Provide consultancy/advise to Yayasan MENDAKI operating team in research areas/ agendas and/or evaluation.
  • Any other duties as directed and assigned by the Reporting Officer.


Research Areas


  • 1Anchor research projects in areas of Education, Family and Youths.
  • Establish partnership with research agencies, academicians and experts in the four areas of Education, Family, Youth and Employability in the Malay/Muslim Voluntary Sector as well as national level to facilitate work in the Research and Policy Department.
  • Conceptualise and develop research proposals/frameworks required to gain an in-depth understanding of education, youth and family-related issues and concerns affecting the Malay/Muslim Community.
  • Conduct environmental scanning and trend analysis in the areas of which have an impact on the organisation’s work plan and/or Malay/Muslim Community.
  • Digest and communicate RPD research agenda/findings and trends to stakeholders, including Mendaki’s management. Recommend strategies/action plans where possible to address those issues.
  • Advocate Research studies findings at appropriate platforms such as conferences, ministries and national agencies.


Policy Analysis


  • Digest national policy trends and its implications to the Malay/Muslim Community.
  • Communicate policy trends and analysis through platforms and sharing sessions (policy forums, online channels).
  • Guide the research interest of the department in terms of current and future needs. Identify future areas of interests in the context of the Malay/Muslim Community interests.


Data Analysis


  • Manage data partnerships between ministries and partners.
  • Manage organisational data profiling, mapping and analysis.


Publications


  • Publish research findings and translate trend analysis into readable annual publications i.E.:
    Policy Digest, Rubrix, and Occasional Papers.
  • Contribute authored, co-write occasional papers.


Other Duties


  • Provide executive support for Management Committee Meeting (MCM), Community Leaders’ Forum (CLF) and Chairman’s Conferences.
  • Participate in the organization management and overall corporate planning process that will facilitate the organisation towards achieving organisational excellence.
  • Represent management/organization as required by CEO.
  • Planning of the department budget (Mid-term and Year-end).
  • Deliverables of Research &
    Design’s work plan.
  • Deliverables of Research &
    Design’s research and policy sharing.
  • New project and initiatives to build Research &
    Design’s contents and capacity.




Requirements


  • Degree in any related field from a recognised institution,
  • At least 5 years relevant professional experience.
  • Exposure in Research Methods and Analysis
  • Exposure in Departmental Work Planning.
  • Exposure in Data Analysis.
  • High level of organisational skills with an ability to work well under pressure.
  • Demonstrable leadership competencies, team-oriented, interpersonal skills, creative problem solving, results-driven and meticulous.
  • Able to think strategically and translate strategies to operational and tangible results.
  • Meticulous and able to work under minimal supervision.
  • Organised with good Communication and Interpersonal skills
