About the role


McConnell Dowell is seeking to hire Barge Masters in Singapore to support marine works project in the East.




Key responsibilities of the role include;


  • Ensure good familiarity and understanding with the Barge Jacking O&
    M procedures and the application thereof.
  • Responsible for the efficient and effective coordination, supervision and execution of maintenance and service activities on a day-to-day basis.
  • Ensure planned controls for safety, environmental and quality aspects in regard to the operation and maintenance of the barge.
  • Compliance with the Safety and Environmental Responsibilities.
  • Ensure a consistently high level of familiarity with operating all communication, electrical, and mechanical systems onboard the barge.
  • Promote the MCD positive safety culture to all workforce operations on the barge.
  • Coordinate with Managers and Superintendents on works, scheduling, and status of the barge in regard to its assignment.
  • Responsible for the safe and defined jacking of the barge structure as per O&
    M Manual.
  • Upkeep of maintenance and equipment service activities on a day-to-day basis as required and as per O&
    M Manual as instructed by the Senior Barge Operator.
  • Promote total job safety and environmental awareness by workforce, subcontractors and all persons working on the barge.
  • Ensure that hazards are identified, risks assessed, and control measures planned and implemented in consultation with fellow Barge Operators and Project Engineers.
  • Monitor and review the performance and reliability of all equipment/tools onboard the barge to ensure consistent smooth operation and availability of the barge.
  • Promptly advise the National Plant Manager of any issues that could adversely impact the reliability of the barge and keep accurate records of such issues.
  • Responsible for understanding and managing the contents of the barge Operations and Maintenance Manual and suggesting upgrades and amendments that may be required from time to time.
  • Execute maintenance activities in accordance with servicing schedules whilst constantly ensuring the availability of the barge when required.
  • Ensure that the workforce on the barge is inducted and familiar with the operational and safety procedures when jacking as required.
  • Required to draft and maintain approved emergency and evacuation plans for the Barge and its crew as required.
  • Assess and allocate maintenance priorities as necessary as required.
  • Maintain equipment and JUB operation logbooks as required as required.
  • Maintain contact and communication with the Project Engineer and National Plant Manager plus Engineering Support as required.
  • Prepare Equipment Inspection Schedules as required.
  • Prepare Equipment Services Schedules as required.
  • Any other duties as may be required by the Company.




About You


To be considered for this role, you will have


  • Minimum of five years experience relevant to the operation and upkeep of JUB’s and having previously held a position of Barge Master.
  • Trades qualification relevant to the operation and maintenance of the barge systems.
  • IJUBOA accreditation – desirable.
  • Recent JUB operational knowledge and competency.
  • Able to work on alternate Saturdays.
  • Transport pick up at Tanah Merah MRT.
