Customs & Export Control Manager

Lufthansa Technik is currently seeking a highly capable candidate for the position of Customer &
Export Control Manager to support with customs and export compliance and cross border-related laws and regulations for Lufthansa Technik Group in the region. The position falls within Segment Aircraft Component Services of Lufthansa Technik and will be responsible for:

• Developing and updating trade compliance program &
  policies
  
• Ensuring seamless export and import transactions &
  coordinate with serviceproviders such as customs brokers as well as suppliers, customers, etc.
  
• Auditing all export and import related documentation and processes including customs declarations for accuracy and potential compliance gaps and risks
  
• Ensuring administrative &
  regulatory requirementsare met
  
• Developing and deploying record retention policy for export and import related records as per applicable regulatory requirements
  
• Maintaining the integrity &
  completeness of the compliance program
  
• Maximizing corporate efficiency and minimize regulatory risk
  
• Keeping track of current laws, regulations &
  practices &
  the impact on operations
  
• Interacting with local Customs and applicable authorities involved in trade as needed
  
• Maintaining and reviewing proper local Export Control classification (ECL) and local Customs Tariff/Export classification as well as other trade related classification
  
• Determining opportunities for duty reduction, deferral, recovery and minimization programs (if any)
  
• pplying for and managing export control and other applicable permits/licenses, monitor potential quotas of such licenses
  
• Conducting import &
  export Risk Assessmentsto inform Management of potential compliance issues
  
• Assisting with any trade compliance audits by local authorities related to import/export activities in collaboration with any business streams
  
• Interfacing to central Customs and Export Compliance departments
  
• All other duties as assigned or required
  

Your Profile

• University or technical college degree, preferably in Business Law, Business Administration or Economics
  
• Minimum 3 years of relevant professional experience in local customs and export control compliance including but not limited to import/export regulations, policy and procedure development, customs audit management, duty reductions &
  recovery programs, valuation and preferential trade programs
  
• Technical knowledge about aircraft parts, e.G. through engineering experience
  
• Experience with local Customs Tariff/Export classification and Export Control material classifications
  
• Professional certifications/licenses such as Customs Broker, while other Customs certifications and designations are considered an asset
  
• Experience working directly with Customs and Other Government Agencies
  
• Fluent in written and spoken English
  
• Knowledge of an Asian language and/or German is advantageous
  
• High degree of intercultural competency and strong understanding of Asian cultures
  
• Like working with people, solving problems, and developing yourself by being challenged in your day-to-day work
  
• Ability and self-driven motivation to adapt and solve complex challenges and new ways of business
  
• Ability to represent Lufthansa Technik in a consistent and professional way
  
• Able to travel to Germany and within Asia
