Credit and Fraud Risk Organization (CFR) within American Express has the mission of minimizing credit and fraud losses while promoting business growth and delivering superior customer service. In India, the CFR CoE (Center of Excellence) team is involved in developing predictive models, business strategies, capabilities, and platforms for driving the above outcomes across all portfolios for American Express globally. This team is looking for a Director, Application Fraud and Banking Fraud Decision Science to lead and develop a diverse team of risk professionals who are responsible to develop, implement and improve predictive features &
models that enable better fraud risk decisions for global portfolios at American Express.

This incumbent will be part of Fraud Risk Decision Science based out of Singapore and will be responsible for managing models for Fraud Applications and the suite of models for all fraud related to Banking prodicts.. This incumbent is expected to drive thought leadership along with strong executional focus to deliver Best-in-Class modeling solutions by partnering with multiple stakeholders globally. The incumbent is expected to lead a team of 8-10 colleagues located in India and 2 managers in Singapore to deliver strong business outcomes along with developing and establishing high performing and highly engaged team.

Responsibilities

• Provide Strategic Vision and Thought leadership to drive Data Science enhancements for the Fraud decision science team
  
• Partner with Fraud Strategy team on case reviews &
  data evaluations with an aim to identify business opportunities &
  address the same using better feature constructs &
  products.
  
• Drive external perspective on industry best practices and trends, conduct research to elevate data science practices and methodologies for Fraud Risk Assessment
  
• Perform annual reviews, performance monitoring reviews, retrains and remediation activity on vendor models &
  products.
  
• Lead, engage, and inspire a team of high performing risk management professionals across multiple locations in India.
  

Qualifications

• 7+ years of risk management experience with deep expertise in Decision and Data Science/Machine Learning along with proven track record of leading Decision Science Teams.
  
• Deep knowledge of commercial business, risk management, Customer Management and AXP capabilities (preferred).
  
• Strong analytical skills and an innovative approach to solving both practical and theoretical business problems.
  
• Ability to build strong relationships, operate within large cross-functional teams, and influence business partners to drive change.
  
• Intellectual curiosity, adaptability in a dynamic environment, and an ability to re-engineer long-standing processes and infrastructure
