Hotel Engineering Technician

SCOPE

To handle all aspects of repair and maintenance works in the Hotel and to upkeep all equipment and hotel property in good working condition.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide support, assist the Chief Engineer in meeting the strategic goals of the department.
  
• Attend to repair and maintenance of all systems and related equipment of a minor nature and ensure that all are kept in good working condition.
  
• Responsible for carrying out requests with regards to repairs in guestrooms, public areas and back of house facilities.
  
• Responsible for replacing and fixing all faulty fixtures and fittings within the Hotel as per daily checklist.
  
• Present all guest rooms and public areas back to Housekeeping and Front Office in a pristine condition, ensuring that all materials and tools are cleared prior to leaving the worksite.
  
• Carry out regular inspections of plant and equipment as per the daily checklist.
  
• Carry out regular preventive maintenance inspections.
  
• Clear all storm water drainage including building gutters to ensure blockages do not occur.
  
• Perform and assist with the Fire Protection Preventive Maintenance Program, ensuring that all items are inspected as per weekly schedule.
  
• Review daily log book, rectify or follow up on all items left unsolved from any previous shifts in relation to general repairs and discuss with the Engineering managers.
  
• Perform cleaning and tidying of all Hotel engineering related areas including plant rooms, electrical, information systems and plumbing riser shafts, storerooms and engineering workshops.
  
• Ensure proper records are kept relating to all plant and equipment for the hotel.
  
• Ensure proper measures are taken to protect the environment and the Hotel’s adherence to it.
  
• Ensure sufficient stock for the necessary tools, materials and parts required for operating use. Raise purchase orders as and when required.
  
• Attend any hotel and Engineering specific meetings and briefings as required.
  
• Participates as a pro-active team member in the Hotel’s Energy conservation program by making appropriate recommendations to Engineering managers on energy conservation improvements.
  
• Ensure all requests for repair and maintenance are carried out within an acceptable time frame.
  
• Be familiar and operate the Hotel’s Building Automation system.
  
• Perform equipment repairs as per manufactures recommendations.
  
• Perform any other ad-hoc duties as assigned by Chief Engineer / Assistant Chief Engineer from time to time.
