Role:
- Implement Company and Company-specific HSEQ policies on board and ashore.
- Ensure safe operation of each ship, monitoring safety and pollution prevention aspects.
- Ensure adequate resources and shore-based support for safety and pollution prevention.
- Act as a liaison between the highest level of Company management and those on board.
- Conduct inspections and review documentation such as Safety inspections, Incident reports, Safety delegate meetings, and Exercise reports as per company procedures.
- Serve as the first point of contact for safety and pollution prevention concerns raised by on-board personnel and promptly notify the highest level of management.
- Ensure vessel compliance with all relevant rules and regulations, including ISM code, ISO 9001, ISO 14001 standards, flag state, port state, and industry-specific requirements;
provide marine and cargo support as needed. - Collaborate with Tech managers to review corrective and preventive actions on operational matters for Right ship, coordinating with vessel masters, Tech managers, fleet manager, and stakeholders.
- Follow up on vessel Vet matters, review Vetting questionnaires, and prepare detailed close-out reports of any Vetting.
- Assist Tech managers in preparing for vetting inspections and participate in PSC preparations as required.
- Maintain an updated system to inform the organization of the latest Vetting and Right ship developments.
- Ensure Safety Training and Competence Training for onboard crew in consultation with Crewing Managers.
- Ensure fleet compliance with the company’s standard operating instructions.
- Implement manager/Owner triggered campaigns across the fleet and follow up on outcomes.
- Conduct inspections on board ships, covering Safety &
Quality, Security (ISPS), and Navigation, as well as office stakeholders. - Prepare training materials and conduct shipboard training sessions.
- Assist and follow up on accident/incident investigations with Managers.
- Conduct ship inspections.
- Collaborate with office personnel on safety-related matters.
- Remain fully responsible for implementing Health, Safety, Security, and Environment standards.
Requirements:
- Master Mariner qualification.
- Auditor training.
- At least 5 years of sea service in a senior position and/or equivalent shore-based HSEQ experience.
- Accident/Incident investigator experience.
- High degree of self-autonomy and the ability to work independently due to the nature of the work and assignments.
