Job Description:
Overview
The Medical Laboratory Assistant is responsible for performing laboratory diagnostic procedures and related activities to provide a quality laboratory service to our customers, both internal and external. The position is required to work at National University Hospital and Ng Teng Fong General Hospital.
Job Responsibilities
You will be responsible for the following:
- \ TReceive laboratory specimens(such as whole blood collected in purple-top or red-top blood tubes) and reject those that are unsuitable for processing
- \ TSort and pack laboratory specimens for couriers/porters at designated send out schedules
- \ TKeep the work area clean, neat, and tidy
- \ TOperate the Laboratory Information System to perform functions such as result query, order entry, packing list for send out, and result entry
- \ TPerform billing-related tasks
- \ TWork closely with the Medical Technologists
- \ TPerform all procedures in accordance with laboratory protocols'
- \ TComply with good laboratory practice as set out by the Laboratory Accreditation Programme of the College of American Pathologists
- \ TReport any adverse incidentsto senior member of staff
- \ TComply with all requirementsof the Laboratory Safety Manual
- \ TPromptly carry out the instruction(s) of senior staff regarding work procedures and duties
Qualification Required and Area of Discipline
At least secondary education or related subject or equivalent combination of qualifications or with relevant work experience in a medical laboratory environment
Required Competencies and Capabilities (Skills, Experiences and Professional Licences)
- \ TGood laboratory skills
-\ THardworking, meticulous, good interpersonal and communication skills
- \ TResponsible team player withpositive work attitude and supportive of the operational needs
- \ TBasic computer literacy
