The Methodist School of Music (MSM) is an agency of The Methodist Church in Singapore (MCS). Its Worship and Music (WM) arm seeks to enhance the quality of worship by nurturing and equipping the body of Christ in the areas of Worship and Music. Its Community Music (CM) arm seeks to provide music education in a Christian environment, use music for outreach and to address social concerns, and use music to connect people across generations / backgrounds / culture / language.




We have a vacancy for Programme Executive (Worship and Music) (2-year contract).




Responsibilities and Duties


1. Training and Equipping Programme Development


  • Curate printed and online resources for training programs tailored to worship leaders.
  • Collaborate with Church worship leaders and musicians to establish training goals and objectives.
  • Supervise a training program and assist the lecturer/trainer to help run the course smoothly.
  • To assist the Director of Worship Music in planning and implementing new strategic projects.


2. Services and/or Presentations Coordination


  • Organize, support, and manage connectional events and groups that bring people from across Methodist churches together in unity.
  • Coordinate the music elements of MSM liturgical presentations / services, including AV/video requirements, providing run sheets management to key players of the event, and integration with other service components.
  • Collaborate closely with pastors, worship leaders, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless flow thematic coherence in worship gatherings.
  • Oversee sound checks, technical setup, and audio-visual enhancements to optimize the worship environment and enhance congregational engagement.


3. Administrative Duties:


  • Oversee the administrative functions of the Worship Music team, encompassing budget management, scheduling resource allocation, and record keeping.
  • Facilitate the information and document management for WM activities, including reminders for modules, checklists, schedules, participant coordination, and other ad hoc requirements.
  • Maintain accurate databases of mailing list (participants to the various programs), worship chairs of the MCS local churches (and other denominations), resource persons (trainers/lecturers), music resources, equipment inventory, and volunteer availability to streamline planning and decision-making processes.


4. Engagement and Outreach:


  • Foster connections and relationships with localmusicians and artists within churches, schools, and community organizations to enhance MSM’s musical offerings and outreach endeavours.
  • Prepare monthly event schedule for submission to Communications team for engagements on social media platforms, websites and other communication channels to effectively advertise MSM events and programs to both congregants and the wider public, thereby maximizing outreach and engagement.


Job Requirements


  • Minimum university degree from a recognised institution.
  • Preferably a Diploma or Degree in Worship or Music Studies, Sacred Music, Church Music, or theological studies, from an established institution or university with at least 5 years of working experiences.
  • Preferably working experiences for Churches, in the context of organizing worship music events and services.
  • Must have a strong understanding of the worship music needs and challenges faced by Christian Churches in Singapore.
  • Strong knowledge of musical instruments used in Church.
  • Able to work well independently, under tight timelines, and on weekends and major Church events.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Application (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), sound, music, and video editing software.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, in interacting effectively with clergy &
    laity.
