Research Associate (Field Epidemiology)


The Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health at the National University of Singapore is currently seeking a dedicated Research Associate in Field Epidemiology to join a multidisciplinary team. This position offers a unique opportunity to engage in innovative research projects in Singapore and Southeast Asia across a range of topics, including spatial epidemiology, infectious disease modelling, ecology, entomology and machine learning. This position will contribute to field epidemiology research projects on the impacts of environmental change on vector-borne and zoonotic disease risks. Key responsibilities:
- Plan and conduct field epidemiological studies on vector and wildlife distribution across land use gradients in Singapore and Southeast Asia;
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams of researchers, including epidemiologists, entomologists, wildlife ecologists and public health experts at universities and government agencies;
- Contribute to design and analysis of field and infectious disease modelling studies in collaboration with project partners;
- Document research output including cleaning, analysis and interpretation of data, development of standard operating procedures and drafting progress reports;
- Present research findings at national and international conferences and publish results in peer-reviewed scientific journals;
- Contribute to grant proposals and reports for funding agencies.


Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in a relevant field such as epidemiology, entomology, ecology, geography or a related discipline
- Previous experience with field or laboratory studies and willingness to work in remote locations
- Experience with statistical analysis using programmes such as R or Stata
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presenting complex concepts to diverse audiences
- A history of peer-reviewed publications is preferred


Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled. The initial appointment will be for one year with the possibility of renewal based on performance and funding availability. There will be an opportunity to pursue a PhD at NUS if interested.
