job description

Job Description:

The Research Fellow in Bioinformatics will play a key role in advancing our research initiatives by providing expert analysis of next-generation sequencing (NGS), focusing on single-cell sequencing, epigenetics data (including ChIP-seq and Ribo-seq), and integrating various multi-omics datasets. This position offers a unique opportunity to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of leading immunologists, oncologists, and computational scientists. The successful candidate will engage in cutting-edge research that encompasses a wide range of data types, from mouse and human to cancer and various other diseases. Utilizing their bioinformatics skills, the fellow will drive innovation in understanding and developing new treatments for diseases.
Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Perform advanced single-cell analyses to identify distinct cell phenotypes and interactions, elucidating the transcriptomic landscape that drives tumor progression and responses to treatments.
  • Execute epigenetic analyses and integrate these with single-cell data to provide comprehensive insights.
  • Develop and implement pipelines for integrative multi-omics analysis that merge various data types (genomic, transcriptomic, epigenetic, etc.). This aids in a complete understanding of biological systems and disease mechanisms.
  • Work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team of biologists, clinicians, and computational scientists to contextualize findings within complex disease landscapes.
  • Manage data curation and ensure the integrity and accessibility of datasets.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of bioinformatics methodologies and stay informed about new technologies and computational tools.
  • Communicate findings through scientific publications, presentations, and reports for both academic and non-academic audiences.

Job Requirements:

  • PhD in Immunology, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Systems Biology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of two years of relevant experience in omics data analysis.
  • Proficient in programming languages such as R and Python, with extensive use of bioinformatics tools and public databases.
  • Demonstrated expertise in statistical data analysis and the application of machine learning.
  • Skilled in using data visualization tools and software.
  • Knowledge of immunology and molecular biology principles.
  • Proven publication record in peer-reviewed journals within the bioinformatics field or related areas.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills, capable of working independently and collaboratively.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Advanced programming skills in R and Python.
  • Experience with server-based and high-performance computing environments.
  • Experience in computational tool development.
  • Expertise in managing and analysing large datasets from various omics platforms.

The above eligibility criteria are not exhaustive. A*STAR may include additional selection criteria based on its prevailing recruitment policies. These policies may be amended from time to time without notice. We regret that only shortlisted candidates will be notified.
