Scientist for Advanced Photonics (Photonic Computing and Quantum Computing)
As part of IME's Photonics &
Sensors Department, thecandidate will paticipate in various projects for the development of photonic computing, quantum photonics, or other photonic applications. This will include photonic circuit design, characterization, electro-optic integration, and verification of system functionalities. You will work closely with an excellent multidisciplinary team working on photonics, electronics, semiconductor process, integration, and fab operation.
Responsibilities:

  • Design of photonic integrated circuits for advanced photonic applications, including but not limited to photonic computing, quantum photonics, etc.
  • Development of optical testing platform for advanced photonic applications. This emphasizes on the application-specific testing with multi-channel in, multi-channel out.
  • Development of electro-optic testing platform for advanced photonic applications. This focuses on the electro-optic integration and relevant high-speed control interface.
  • Verification of electro-optic system functionalities. This emphasizes on the realization of targeted algorithm implemented on photonic integrated circuits, as well as data analysis, trouble-shooting and optimization.
  • Preparation of technical presentations and papers for internal meetings, as well as conferences and journals.
  • Collaborate with project team to ensure quality and on-time delivery for various projects. You will get a chance to expose to both industrial and academic projects.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

  • PhD in Integrated Photonics, Microelectronics, Opto-electronics, Physics or equivalent.
  • Experience in one or more topics listed below is strongly preferred:
    Photonic computing, quantum computing, LiDar, optical switch array, compute-in-memory.
  • Hands-on experience in photonic simulation using various electrical / photonics design software.
  • Hands-on experience in photonics and microelectronic testing at circuit level or above.
  • Strong communication, industry awareness, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong self-motivation and interest in the next-generation photonics technology development.
