About Our Client

Our client is major global player involved in the agri business, from plantations to household products, with a strong focus on sustainability. They operate across 13 countries and are looking for a Senior Legal Counsel.

Job Description

• Strategic Advisor:
  This role reports directly to the CEO, acting as a strategic advisor on all things legal across the Group's global operations.
  
• Direct Impact:
  Work hand-in-hand with the CEO, shaping policies that steer the Group's direction and ensuring legal compliance across all its ventures.
  
• International Influence:
  Your expertise will be vital in navigating the complex legal landscape across the Group's 13 countries of operation. From overseeing sanctions compliance to advising on international trade regulations, you'll be a key player in safeguarding the Group's interests globally.
  
• Strategic Problem-Solving:
  Become a trusted advisor to the CEO, providing strategic counsel on ongoing litigation and formulating winning strategies.
  
• Project Powerhouse:
  Play a pivotal role in high-impact projects, ensuring they adhere to best practices in corporate governance and legal compliance across jurisdictions.
  
• Cross-Functional Collaboration:
  Work seamlessly across departments, collaborating with the marketing &
  trading division overseas and task forces to achieve strategic goals.
  

The Successful Applicant

• Hold a Bachelor's Degree in Law from a top university, and be called to the Bar in Singapore.
  
• Bring at least 12 years of post-qualification experience (PQE), honed in private practice, public service, or as in-house counsel.
  
• Experience in corporate finance, merger &
  acquisition (M&
  A).
  
• Knowledge of international shipping and trade practices, with an understanding of commodities trading regulations, is a plus.
  
• Proven ability to negotiate, identify legal issues, and develop commercially viable solutions that comply with all regulations.
  
• Possess a passion for a role that extends beyond traditional legal work, embracing a strategic and influential position.
  
• We require a dynamic, hardworking, and meticulous individual with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  
• Thrive in both independent and team-based work environments.
