Position Overview:
The Sushi Chef will oversee the preparation of high-quality sushi dishes in a fine dining 85 seat fine dining modern Japanese restaurant, manage and train kitchen staff, ensure compliance with food safety regulations, and provide exceptional customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare a wide variety of sushi dishes to meet customer demands
- Manage and train sushi kitchen staff and other kitchen staff, including scheduling and assigning tasks
- Ensure the correct preparation, presentation and delivery of sushi dishes, and check them for quality
- Maintain inventory and control food waste to ensure profitability
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and maintain a clean and hygienic kitchen
- Provide exceptional customer service, maintaining a positive relationship with customers and their requests
- Assist in maintaining in-house and online menus, making changes as necessary
- Continuously develop and refine sushi and other menu offerings to meet customer and business needs
Qualifications:
- High school diploma, associate degree, or equivalent education
- Proven experience as a sushi chef or a similar role in a reputable kitchen
- Knowledge of sushi-making techniques and the use of traditional Japanese tools
- Familiarity with food safety regulations and procedures for kitchen sanitation
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
- Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
